In-class Online lesson: Expository Essay

Introduction of argumentative essay

Racial slurs are very common among people in the past and even present. Whether in the USA, Europe or Asia, racism exists and insulting of certain races occurs. I feel strongly that we should put this to a stop to this behavior of being racist. Everyone should have a right to be respected for who they are. No one should judge anyone by his or her skin color or looks because God created everyone in his or her own unique way. Instead we should all learn to accept one another just for who they are.

Reflections

In the past, I have heard people and even my friends insulting blacks before, by calling them names related to their skin color and smell. At that time, there weren’t any Malays or Indians around so I thought it was alright. All I did was listen to them making fun of them, I tried laughing along with them but I felt really guilty. I didn’t know much about racist at that time, but I still felt it was not very nice to say such things about blacks. I didn’t want to tell my friends off for that, so I just kept my mouth shut. Now that I know that racism isn’t a small matter anymore, whenever I hear people whom I know insult a certain race I will try to tell them not too. Because just a few words of insults can cause a huge problem when it constantly happens. I really feel everyone should put aside the differences that we have on the outside and accept one another for who they are.
